Welcome to the site of Stoptime Photo. Although we occasionally photograph other events, our specialty is ragtime music festivals and our photos range from performers to patrons. In the United States, ragtime was THE popular music during the early part of the last century and has enjoyed several revivals since then. In the last three decades, many new festivals have emerged all over the U.S. and elsewhere. Talented professional and amateur performers originate from many areas of the United States and other countries including Canada, England, Ireland, Norway, Hungary, and Australia! This site was established to provide a visual record of many of these events and a service for acquiring prints or images for personal or promotional purposes. Our photographs date back to 1982 and over time, this site will be populated with galleries featuring festivals past. For inquiries contact: rcberry@stoptimephoto.com .

2007 Lake Superior Ragtime Festival : The Lake Superior Ragtime Society was founded in 1984 by Yvonne Cloutier and Tim Sandor. The (mostly) annual ragtime festivals began in Duluth in 1986 and this year marks the 17th time for this wonderful event. For many years, the festival took place entirely in Barker's Island Inn (Superior) but this year, it was moved to Duluth with headquarters at the Duluth Radisson. The new festival format featured three simultaneous venues during the day: the 5th Avenue Lounge and the Viking Room are located inside the hotel while the Depot Train Museum is just a short walk across Superior Street. Formal evening concerts were presented at Mitchell Auditorium on the campus of the College of St. Scholastica, which features great acoustics and two beautiful grand pianos. This year’s headliners included: Paul Asaro, Mimi Blais, Nan Bostick, Sue Keller, Alex Sandor and Adam Swanson. Other performers included: Andrew Barker, Rich Berry, Bill Brown, Yvonne Cloutier, Ann Doberstein, Beth Gucinski, Dick Haines, Harmony Trio (Ruth Juntunen, Marinda Marden, Kerry Tomhave), Janet Jennings, Jack Love, George Mackey, Ginny Mahlum, Yvonne McDonald, Larisa Migachyov, Judy Olson, Galen Parker, John Partridge, John Remmers, Stephen Rhyner, Tim Sandor, Donna Schultz, Mike Schwimmer, Bill Sell, Steve Standiford, Monty Suffern, Adrian Swanson, Ruby Thomas, Judy Thompson, David Tucker, Jeff Williams, and Sandy Williams. A pair of informative and entertaining Saturday morning seminars included “The Music of Donald Ashwander” by Sue Keller, and “From Ragtime to Swing Time” by Nan Bostick. A couple of notable standouts include Pat Conn and Larisa Migachyov. Pat is a dear friend of ragtimers everywhere and is the daughter of Joe Lamb, who is one of ragtime’s “big three” (along with Scott Joplin and James Scott). Larisa Migachyov is a very talented pianist/composer who discovered the ragtime scene just this year and who we hope to see for many years to come ( www.larisamigachyov.com ). 2007 Presidential Dinner-Concert : This gallery chronicles Bob Milne's fourth outing to play for President George H. W. Bush and First Lady Barbara Bush,... the third time in Kennebunkport, Maine. The event was hosted by the Bush's to raise money for cancer research. The lovely evening began with a social hour at the Bush compound followed by dinner at a fine restaurant, On The Marsh. Once again, Bob Milne was the evening's entertainment and played a varied program which included excerpts from his America concert. My thanks to Bob and wife Linda for inviting me (Rich Berry) and many thanks to the Bush's for their most gracious hospitality. Bob, Linda and I drove all the way from Michigan and stopped in Niagra Falls to visit a longtime friend of Ragtime and all-around great guy, Mr. Don Burns.
